Hello friends and family!
We are so excited to celebrate our marriage with you on September 2nd, 2023. For your convenience, we have more details and our registry listed below.
- Allison and Lance
Lafayette is between Indianapolis and Chicago, but closer to Indianapolis.
From Indianapolis, it is a 1.25 hour drive ↖️ northwest from Indianapolis International Airport to the venue.
From Chicago, it is a 2.5 hour drive ↘️ southeast from O'Hare International Airport or from Chicago Midway International Airport.
From Detroit, it is a 4.5 hour drive ↙️ southwest from city center to the venue.
We had some trouble securing nearby hotels due to Purdue University's opening day football game the same weekend as our wedding.
We were able to secure spots at some hotels on the far NW corner of Indianapolis. These are ~45 minutes drive from the venue.
The following hotels are very close to the venue, but were quoted at ~$500/night.
If you find yourself with extra free time, here are some activities you could do in the area.
Lafayette has a few flat hikes.
The Haan Museum of Indiana Art has paintings, ceramics, and anitique American furniture.
The Lilly Nature Center consists of award-winning exhibits and activities designed for the entire family. The bird viewing area has one-way glass so visitors can see the birds at the feeding stations up close. This is located inside the Celery Bog Nature Area.
The Celery Bog Nature Area is approximately 195 acres, consisting of a prairie, a savanna, woodlands and wetlands. It includes over 4 miles of paved, 10’ wide trails that connect to the Purdue University campus and other locations throughout West Lafayette. There are also 2.5 miles of mulched paths through the property and three observation decks near the wetlands.
Fun fact: As a kid, Allison used to love driving over one road through the celery bog because it would always get bumpy and felt like a mini roller coaster.
Tropicanoe Cove is a public swimming pool with a small admission fee.
Fort Ouiatenon is a replica of the wooden blockhouse that was originally built here in 1717 by the French.
Mission: Breakout Lafayette gives your group one hour to figure out an adventure puzzle.
Downtown Purdue is walking distance from the hotels!
Lance's old hockey friend has a bowling alley up near the fairgrounds: Mike Aulby's Arrowhead Bowl.
This is a fun local park you can have a picnic in.
This was a recommendation from Lance's brother's partner, Sarah! She said it's not quite what you would expect, but that getting to see the wolves up close was very cool!
Here are some places you can grab a bite to eat! Food will be served at the wedding.
This was a favorite of Allison and her sisters growing up. The garlic bread a.k.a. Texas toast was always her favorite.
An Indiana classic. If you're keen enough to eat here in person you can get your drinks delivered to you on a train.
This is definitely the best pizza in the area. A Purdue classic and a frequently requested meal by Allison and her sisters whenever they are in town.
This is a special one because Allison's favorite Aunt Janet used to take them here for breakfast. It's also conveniently across the street from our wedding venue!
If you're looking for some great local donuts look no further than Mary Lou's. Be sure to try a bear claw!
No matter where you go, Chipotle will always be there. Fun facts about Chipotle, Allison's senior year she ate at the local Hamden Chipotle almost daily. Feel free to join in our game of "Over/Under": do you think within your lifetime you have eaten Chipotle over or under 750 times?
This will forever be Lance's favorite. Our place in Arizona was right next to one that Lance would frequent. If you want to get his favorite meal be sure to get the full rack of ribs.
While we've never eaten here, it was featured on the very famous Guy Fierri's "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives."
If you want a good 'ol drive-in restaurant, Dog N Suds is the place to be. Be sure to try a root beer float!
Lance truthfully despises Panera, but it's still an easy stop and not too far from the recommended hotels!
When Allison and her family would come to spend summers in West Lafayette they would go here for a late night treat! Be sure to try a blizzard.
Here, you can get a burrito as big as your face!
There are various places to eat near the venue.
Hotel options are near where Allison stayed when she lived in Indiana in fall of 2017. Here are some local eateries.
Allison would go to eat here with her cousins, Cary, Kimmie, Rachael, and Emma! They have great chips and salsa.
Always a classic.
For a quick option if you're on the go.
Recommended if you're looking for a hearty breakfast.
This grocery store will have just about anything you may need.
This is a new addition since Allison spent time there. She hasn't been there herself, but it has decent ratings!
While Lance and Allison personally have never frequented these establishments, we hear good things!
There are various shopping centers in Lafayette.
You can also check out the local Walmart! It used to be open 24 hours a day and one of Gordon's (Allison's Dad) favorite pastimes was late night, 2AM Walmart runs.
